Vermont Reggae Festival Cancelled ¬
2007-07-25
I was a bit surprised today to see that the Vermont International Reggae Music Festival was cancelled earlier this month citing, “Lack of sponsorship, insufficient pre-festival ticket sales, a commitment to paying a fair wage to reggae artists, and several attempts at derailing the festival by the Rutland Town Select Board and community members,” as the primary reasons. I was trying to buy tickets at the time.
We have an excellent CD of music from one of the previous Vermont Reggae Festivals that Emily went to and we were looking forward to attending this year. I was especially keen on seeing The Specials play again as we got to see them at the Burlington Discover Jazz Festival earlier this year.
It’s really too bad they couldn’t come up with a compromise with Rutland (and vice versa, of course).
